“Dreamlike images that tell the story of the gestures of work of a vanished civilization, the peasant and artisanal one linked to our ancient memories. Images made even more poignant by the voices reciting passages from Lavorare stanca by Cesare Pavese.”
About Us
Our History
After having lived in Lovere (in the province of Bergamo) the three-year experience of the School of Theatrical Expression Silence Studio conducted by the most important masters of Contemporary Research Theatre in Europe, some students decide to continue their theatrical practice and in 1985 they establish the Silence Teatro Association.
During its first years of activity, the group produced some shows that were the result of a long research project on a theatre that favours the body as a means of expression and communication.
Since 1990, Silence has embarked on the adventure of Street Theatre, performing in public places with the most diverse characteristics.
Subsequently, Silence matures the conviction that the theatrical subject can arise from the HISTORICAL-CULTURAL heritage of the community, reworked in the form of a theatrical event.
In recent years, the group has also been characterized by research work through forms of expression tending towards the union between THEATRE and ENVIRONMENT with the aim of promoting a creative dialectic between urban spaces and the artistic proposal.
His shows for Open Spaces originate from this concept and have led him to participate in numerous important festivals throughout Italy and in Russia, Poland, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Slovakia, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Estonia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Finland, Luxembourg, Serbia, Hungary, Ukraine, Latvia, Lebanon, Romania, Armenia, Turkey, Cyprus, Croatia and Albania.
The Silence Teatro Association also carries out intense cultural promotion activities by organizing pedagogical projects, stages, theatre reviews.
Since 2020, Silence Teatro represents Italy at E.T.A. – EURASIA THEATER ASSOCIATION. The purpose of this association is to promote peace through the dissemination of various forms of theatrical expression and to encourage artistic and human exchange between different cultures. Its members include artists, theatre groups and organisers from more than 20 nations between Asia and Europe.
